The Cardinals dominance on the glass led to a 22-6 advantage in second chance points.“I’m very proud of this team today,” said LU head coach Tic Price. “It was clear that both teams wanted this win badly, but we got out to a quick start and rode that momentum to victory. I can’t say enough about our effort on the glass. Everyone was getting involved, and that is the type of effort we need to win games.”center_img The Cardinals saw the lead climb to as many as 28 points early in the second half before McNeese tried to mount a run. The visitors from the other side of the border trimmed the deficit down to 17 points with just over 7 minutes remaining, but LU responded by pushing the lead back up over 20.“Our kids understood the significance of this game and taking care of your home floor,” said Price. “We also got a great boost from the crowd. I thought this was one of the most excited crowds of the season and we fed off of their energy.“Rivalry games are fun for the fans and players, but our focus was just get a win today no matter who the opponent was. That will be our focus now as we prepare for Sam Houston State. I’m happy for our guys today, but we now have to turn our attention to the next game,” added Price. The Cardinals return to action Thursday when they host league-leading Sam Houston State. Trailer Fire Started in Chicken Coop

first_imgFacebookTwitterEmailPrintFriendly分享As we reported yesterday, a trailer home which was the site of a Halloween drug bust burned over the weekend; now the likely cause has been determined. The trailer was consumed in just 45 minutes last Saturday. Nelson said trailers burn more quickly than standard homes, but these types of fires are common… Nelson: “Just looking through the area, the only source of ignition and combustible material in the area was the straw and the heating lamp. So the most likely cause is going to be that heating lamp knocked into the straw. Don’t know, it could have been the chickens, or just the clip that gave way, not sure how that happened.” Nelson: “We’ve had a lot of these over the past couple years, heating lamps, especially with the chickens. Some of the things to think about when you’re dealing with that, people that have chickens, find a very secure way of keeping that lamp on there. We’ve seen the kind with the clips, like a pair of scissors, you squeeze them together and then you clamp them on there. Those tend to slip. They can get pulled off very easily. So if you can find a more secure way with screws and bolts, some way of keeping that lamp in one place and not being able to be knocked over. Also, if you can protect it from the animals being able to get to it and knock it over, whether it’s on the shelving system of up against a beam, some way that the animal can’t get to it and securely keep that lamp on there, and of course keep it away from combustible materials.”center_img Brad Nelson told us the trailer, worth approximately $25,300, had two additions: one where people were living and a second that was housed chickens… No people or animals were injured in the blaze.
